This award recognizes a business or association for their leadership in environmental preservation or sustainability through their conservation efforts. It recognizes those who show a dedicated approach to operating in an environmentally sustainable way including but not limited to:
- Benchmarking, tracking & reducing greenhouse gas emissions
- Improving the energy efficiency of facilities
- Waste reduction activities
- Empowering employees & customers to live sustainably through green team and environmentally friendly commute programs
- Ability to show a strong link between a healthy environment and a healthy business
Requirements
- Displays environmental responsibility
- Fosters innovation in environmental protection
- Raises awareness of the importance of protecting the environment
- Adopts new practices that encourage the sustainable use of renewable resources, and the protection of environmentally sensitive areas with community involvement
- Must not have won in this category for at least 10 years
